During the Chinese New Year, people came to the His Fang Temple of Fo Guang Shan to worship Buddha and celebrate the Spring Festival. Among them, the Buddhist hall exhibited “Eugene Chiang Jiang ‘s LEGO Art Creations”, which can be seen by the public. Mini versions of Hsi Fang Temple and Hsi Lai Temple, and if you look more closely, there are mage dolls standing at the gate of the mountain to welcome the crowd.
Eugene Chiang has been engaged in the creation of miniature brick art for many years in his spare time. One of his first works is the Hsi Fang Temple, which is 70 cm long and 40 cm high, reducing the overall appearance of the temple. He and his wife Christina have been supporting the Hsi Fang Temple for many years. It was displayed in the LEGO works, and the visitors were amazed and admired.
Eugene Chiang was born in Taiwan and immigrated to the United States since he was a child. He and his wife have been close to Hsi Fang temples for many years. Four years ago, he became interested in building blocks. Based on his love for his hometown and Chinese culture, he observed that many Westerners wanted to understand Buddhism and Chinese culture. It’s an excellent tool.
Eugene Chiang believes that this exhibition is a perfect opportunity to introduce Chinese culture. Seven sets of works including “Hsi Fang Temple”, “Hsi Lai Temple”, “Dragon and Lion Dance”, “Nian Story” and “Chinese New Year” are exhibited. He used Lego blocks to stack up lively scenes of lively Nian beasts, dragon and lion dances, and a warm scene of a table full of delicious food and a reunion dinner.
