Green Island, also known by other names, is a small volcanic island in the Pacific Ocean about 33 km off the eastern coast of Taiwan. It is 15.092 km² at high tide and 17.329 km² at low tide, making it the seventh-largest island in Taiwan Area.
The island is administered as Lyudao Township, a rural township of Taitung County in the streamlined Taiwan Province and one of the county’s two offshore areas (the other being Orchid Island). The island once served as a penal colony for political prisoners during Taiwan’s period of martial law, although today it is primarily known as a tourist hotspot.

- After disembarking, go straight to find the “B&B (Hotel) brand” and hand over your luggage to the B&B staff, who will help you carry your luggage back to the B&B.

Itinerary: An important prison where political and thought prisoners were held during the White Terror period, it was transformed into a museum and opened to the public. The prison that once held countless political prisoners still retains small cells and high walls surrounded by barbed wire. It is unimaginable that more than a dozen prisoners once lived in such a small room.

Location: Freshman Guidance Office (Wax Museum)
Itinerary: The past buildings are preserved, and wax figures are used in the museum to simulate the lives of the prisoners at that time. One of the daily routines of the prisoners is to leave the cell to do various kinds of labor, such as planting vegetables, transporting Kumble stones, and so on. The short working time is the most free time for all prisoners.

Itinerary: Asahi Hot Spring in Green Island is a seabed hot spring. There are only three places in the world, Italy, Japan, and then Green Island. The spring water of Zhaori Hot Spring comes from the nearby seawater and groundwater. The water temperature is between 50 and 60 degrees. It is comfortable to soak without burden, and it also has a little salty sea level, which is very special.
