Western Temple LEGO Art Special Learning Inspires Children’s Self-awareness and Symbiosis Spirit

Fo Guang Shan Hsi Fang Temple launched a variety of special learning content in the spring English course, attracting about 60 students and parents from Sanhao Children’s Class, Children’s Martial Arts Class and Adult English Buddhist Class. Sanhao Children’s Class specially invites Eugene Chiang, a computer engineer who loves Lego creation, to give lectures. Through LEGO Lego art learning, the children are inspired to understand themselves and the spirit of symbiosis.
From March 11th, the children in the Sanhao children’s class began to study Lego for three consecutive weeks. On the first day of the course, the children learned about their external and internal characteristics by filling out the worksheet, and used Lego to create a unique Lego portrait representing themselves. Andrew, who likes green, assembled green costumes and portraits holding Lego, while Asya, who loves peace and small animals, made his Lego portraits wear clothes with “love” and animals around them.
Jiang Yuqing also let the children understand the concept of eco-friendliness and environmental protection through the vegetable garden built by Lego, and inspired the children to have the spirit of symbiosis.
Sanhao Children’s Class offers two classes in this semester. Classes for infants and children are divided by age, and a children’s martial arts class is updated to allow children to exercise their muscles and bones and have more diverse learning experiences. The parent Chikako said that while the two children are attending the Sanhao children’s class, he can also participate in the adult English Buddhist class. When the children’s martial arts class is in progress, he volunteers in the dojo. The whole family has the opportunity to learn Buddhism.
西方寺樂高藝術專題學習 啟發孩子自我認識與同體共生精神

佛光山西方寺於春季英語課程中推出多項專題學習內容，吸引三好兒童班、兒童武術班及成人英文佛學班約60位學生與家長參與。三好兒童班特別邀請熱愛樂高創作的電腦工程師Eugene Chiang蔣雨青授課，透過LEGO樂高藝術專題學習，啟發孩子自我認識與同體共生精神。
從3月11日起，三好兒童班孩子們開始了連續三周的樂高專題學習。課程首日，孩子們透過填寫學習單，了解自己外在與內在的特質，並運用樂高創作出代表自己的獨特樂高人像。喜歡綠色的Andrew組裝了綠色服裝和手握樂高的人像，而熱愛和平和小動物的Asya則讓自己的樂高人像穿上印有「愛」的衣服並有動物圍繞身邊。
蔣雨青也讓孩子們透過樂高砌造的菜園花圃，了解生態友好與環保的理念，並啟發孩子們有同體共生的精神。
三好兒童班於本學期開設兩個班級，以年齡劃分幼兒及兒童課程，更新設兒童武術班，讓孩子活動筋骨，且有更多元的學習體驗。家長Chikako表示，兩個孩子參加三好兒童班的同時，自己也可以參加成人英文佛學班，而在兒童武術班進行時，自己則在道場義工服務，一家人都有機會學習佛法。
