Woo Young Woo is a young lawyer with Asperger’s syndrome. She boasts a high IQ, an impressive memory and a wonderfully creative thought process, but she struggles with everyday interactions.
About an autistic 27-year-old lawyer. Due to her high IQ of 164, impressive memory, and creative thought process, the brilliant Woo Young Woo graduated at the top of her class from a prestigious law school.
Lawyer Woo Young Woo displays common traits in many autistic people, including an aversion to being touched, finding it painful to look people in the eye, a deep passion for one topic (also referred to as a ‘special interest’ in the autism community), in her case whales. Other common traits she shows are immediate echolalia (the practice of repeating what others say, used for a variety of reasons) and a need to organize items into neat rows and piles – since autistic people take in a huge amount of sensory information compared to allistic people, organizing what they can helps soothe them. She has savant abilities, which is portrayed often in media but is actually uncommon in autistic people – only about 10% according to most research. For Woo Young Woo, this manifests in an incredible memory, excellent pattern recognition, and the ability to recall things read a long time ago.
